I was asked recently why I use startexploring for all my user names online and thought the answer would make a great first post on our journey together. I started using startexploring over a decade ago when I was trying to figure out who I was and where I was going. Years previous I had been trekking through China working for an adoption agency, helping home school children of missionaries and expats, teaching English, and being a tour guide for 6 years. And years before that I lived in Germany for 6 years.
Coming back to the US was a bit of a culture shock after 12 years oversees but I entered the average life of corporate America in the telecom/datacom industry, marriage and raising children (an adventure in itself). In search of some freedom from the rat race, I left my cushy job and became a SOHO (small office, home office) and alternative education consultant.
It was about then that startexploring really became an identity for me. I wanted to start exploring different ideas, paths, resources and not just follow the crowd in a daze through my days. ~ Yep, that just happened … you don’t know me well yet but those are the gems you can look forward to in future posts.
Briefly outlining the different highways I’ve taken doesn’t really give depth to the interests and roads I’ve traveled. Which brings us to here…..
This is a hub of eclectic posts about topics that I find interesting. Perhaps you will as well. It may go without saying that I’m interested in travel but not just the history or features of a location but also of the people, culture, and language. Additionally, I care deeply about topics such as faith, alternative education, positive thinking, healthy living, social issues, and the list goes on.
As the name suggests, I will explore with you what I find on my journey. I encourage you to join me and look forward to our walks and talks together!
